SUNY Delhi’s pool hours for October are as follows:Monday-Friday: Lap swim, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; College team practice, 6-8 p.m.; Open swim, 8-9:30 p.m.Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: Water exercise, 4-5 p.m. ($6 per day; four-week options available)Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Dolphins swim club, 5-6 p.m.Saturday: Lessons, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.Saturday and Sunday: Open swim, 1-4 p.m.The pool will be closed during designated college breaks.
Colonial Ridge Golf to host tourneys
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the following events this month.Saturday: The Frostbite Open captain-and-crew will begin at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $50 per player and includes greens fees, cart fees and prize money (gross, net, closest to pins, skins). this event features a 100-percent payout based on 20 teams. Projected payouts are $600 for first, $400 for second, $200 for third, $100 for fourth, $80 for fifth, $60 for sixth, $40 for seventh and $20 for eighth. Pinshots will be $50 each and $250 will be awarded in skins.Oct. 30: The Impossible Pin captain-and-crew will start at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $50 per player and includes greens fees, cart fees and prize money (gross, net, closest to pins, skins). this event also features a 100-percent payout _ projected at a total of $2,000 _ based on 20 teams. Disc golf set for this weekend
The Oneonta Rotary Club will sponsor Oneonta’s first disc golf tournament Sunday on a temporary course at Fortin Park.The weekend begins with a disc golf clinic Saturday. Starter sets will be on sale for $25, but free loaner discs also will be available.a 36-hole tournament for players of all skill levels will follow Sunday. The event will feature a special novice division with a lower entry fee and the option to play one round instead of two. Softball camp to start Sunday
The Oneonta Softball Pitching Camp for girls ages 8-18 will run on consecutive Sundays, beginning this Sunday and continuing through Nov. 21 at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club.Session I is for players ages 13-18 and covers pitching mechanics to develop a fastball with accuracy and placement for experienced pitchers. It runs from 1-2 p.m. and costs $75.Session II is also for ages 13-18, runs from 2-3 p.m. and will focus on developing new pitches and game strategy. Cost is $75 or $125 for both sessions.Session III runs from 3-4 p.m. and is for ages 8-12. Pitching mechanics, fundamentals, drills and strategies for beginning players will be covered. Section four to hold meetings
Section Four’s 2010-11 Winter Sports Rules Interpretation Meetings for girls and boys basketball continue Monday at the Holiday Inn in Oneonta. The girls meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.The meetings close Oct. 28 at Dryden High (girls 6:30 p.m.; boys 7 p.m.).Section four coaches of all levels may attend.
Tennis forum set for Tuesday

Hall to host World Series Gala
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host its 14th annual World Series Gala on Oct. 30.The family event will feature a live broadcast of Game 3 of the 106th World Series, which will be played at the American League champion’s park and begin at 6:57 p.m. The Hall’s doors will open at 6 p.m. for the Gala, which will take place in the Grandstand Theater.Tickets are required and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Paintball tourney set for Oct. 30

Wrestling coaches clinic Oct. 30-31
The new York State Public High School Athletic Association will conduct the second annual Cliff Keen Wrestling Coaches Clinic from Oct. 30-31 at Johnson City High.The clinic will feature several workshops on drills, fundraising, nutrition and strength training, among other topics. Apple Valley High coach Jim Jackson, whose Minnesota-based team is ranked first in the country, and Binghamton University coach Pat Popolizio are among the featured guests.The clinic is free and open to the public, but participants must register at nysphsaa.org or wwsports.com/2010clinic.
Gun and knife show Nov. 7

OBGC to host lacrosse on Mondays
LacrosseOneonta will run its winter session at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club on Mondays from Nov. 15 through Jan. 24.Boys and girls in grades 3-7 will play from 5-7 p.m., followed by grades 8-12 from 7-9 p.m.Participants must be OBGC members. Club to close during hunting season
The Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club will lock its gates and close its range during the 2010 hunting season.Club members hunting on club property are asked to wear GR&GC badges (green logo button). Four-wheelers must be ridden on the edges of the Club property, which will be posted.During bow season, traps and the rifle range may be used. Driving will not be allowed during the first week of rifle season.
