What to use to filter a kiddie pool for turltes?

Im planning on keeping 2 red ear sliders in a kiddie pool. what type of fiter, and how big of a filter should i use? and also, what can be use as a basking area?

Try a pond filter, you may need to modify it slightly so the turtle can't climb in side or anything. but pond filters are much stronger and can keep up with the waste turtles produce much better than most tank filters (i.e fish filters).

    just so you know…
if you are going to use a kiddie pool i would still line it with pond liner or something safe.
kiddie pools are made for swimming, the plastic that they are made out of is not made for water consumption. granted the turtles dont have gills but they will still ingest the water. the plastic can leach nasty chemicals into the water that the filter. cannot clean.

I have used kiddy pools and plastic pond liners from most nurseries and now a 150 gal pond from Sears.

I would suggest a hard pond liner from a nursery.

    You'll need a heater also.
They are the coolest. Not cuddly pets at all. And a life time commitment.
Sliders, cooters , painted, map, yellow bellied all are basically the same and require the same basic care.

I would think a pondmaster 1000, it also has a spray fountain to keep the water from frosting over. Depending where you live. I am in Southern California and I have 2 heaters in my pond and a UVA/UVB light in the winter.

Do you know how long I have carted these guys around, 36 longggg yrs. I have spent so many $$$ I could have bought a small island by now!

These two females of mine are which I have carted around for 36 long yrs plus 3 adoptees in the last 6 yrs. Which my kids aren’t even that old. And having 5 for the last 6 yrs I spend over 300.00 a month which includes over 400 goldfish and minnows per month. Leafy greens and fruits 4 times a week and plus electricity plus I also feed dried cubed blood worms or tubiflex worms at least 5 times a week. for two turtles its still going to cost ya. the setup alone tank, kiddy pool/pond liner, heater, GOOD filter, UVA/UVB rep light. Feeders, greens, fruits, dried turtle food. and electricity? $$$$$

Basking area I had used 1 12×12x1" cement brick for basking top and 2 small cwmwnt bricks for the legs. that wayyou fill th ewater all the way to the top of the brick and they can go under the brick for shelter and on top to bask.
one for each leg and one for the top for the basking area. or hardware cloth with is a moldable metal mesh…

1307725232 85 Pool pump running high, vac won't work, what do I do?

My 16 x 32 in-ground concrete pool pump usually runs around 12 psi. Today, even after back-washing and checking my filter baskets, it is running at 20 psi and my vac won't run when on filter. I noticed that when on backwash and waste my psi is still around 12, but not when on filter. I assume there is an obstruction somewhere, but how do I clear it?
