Which chemicals can i use in the pool which will be safe for my baby?

I'm teaching my baby to swim and she became too big for our bath tub. we have a Jacuzzi outside (Portable Inflatable Spa) and I want to use it as our place for swimming lessons. what kind of chemicals can I put in it so it'll fight the bacteria. Are there any safe methods/chemicals which will b safe for the Spa and the most important for my baby. (She likes to drink the water , well sh swallows a bit of it.)

Baking soda to neutralize/lower PH or Borax to raise the PH. Chlorine is fine to use as long as you give it 24 hours after shocking the pool or 4 hours after a regular dosing.

If you can afford it though, switch the whole system over to a salt water system – completely natural and safe and once the system is established you don't put any chemicals in it at all.

Grew up with a pool in the backyard and always hated the weekly pool shock because we couldn't use the pool for the whole day, no matter how hot it was or how much we bugged!

1298959240 79 Professional pool service opens retail store

          By CHARLENE DEAN

Tired of traveling to Las Vegas to get professional grade chemicals for the hot tub/spa and the swimming pool?

Thanks to Paul Beauparlant, those poolside products will soon be right down the street at Paul and Sons Pool Service and Supply.

The store, scheduled to open March 2, will carry everything needed to keep the spa and pool sparkling and clear.

Beauparlant has had a pool service here since 2007 and currently services 36 customers, including private pools for some of Pahrump’s officials and pools at apartments and RV parks. he learned the ins and outs of chemicals and equipment during the six years he worked with a large pool service in Las Vegas.

He said even though the name of his business is “and Sons,” the boys are ages 13 and 4. “I’ve talked about this becoming a family business with the 13-year-old,” Beauparlant said. “it will be a place he can work during the summer when he gets old enough, and he can use the job to help him through college.”

He laughed and said, “The 4-year-old just thinks it must be time to go swimming.”

Beauparlant said his business will offer several things not found in other area stores carrying pool and spa supplies.

“I offer real professional advice to my customers. right now, when the pool turns green, they go get what they think will fix it. That’s not always the case.

“I’ve had customers come to me and say, ‘my pool is green. I put chemicals in it and it just won’t clear.’”

Beauparlant said people fail to realize water is just like anything else left in the desert heat. it breaks down, and as it does, the chemicals added to clear the water have nothing with which to bond. “I’ve seen it time and time again,” he said. “sometimes it’s the wrong chemical and sometimes there is no fix except to drain and refill.”

The retail store will handle a line of professional chemicals Beauparlant said are more concentrated and have a smaller percentage of inert ingredients than what people can purchase locally. “it actually saves money in the long run,” he said. “it takes less of a professional grade chemical to get the job done.”

He said the effects last longer as well.

“it also keeps the water from breaking down so fast, which means a longer time before you have to bear the expense of draining and refilling the pool.”

Paul and Sons Pool Service and Supply will also carry equipment, both professional and less expensive grades. “we have filters, baskets for skimmers, motor baskets, vacuum hose, skimmers, brushes and testing kits,” Beauparlant said. “I special order for people, too.” he said there is a 24-hour to one week turnaround time for those.

Not only is Beauparlant a professional pool man offering sound advice and supplies, he is also a resource go-to guy. he said over the years he has made trusted contacts who repair plaster cracks, remodel pools, add waterfalls and other poolscapes, install baby gates and other safety features and even can recommend a builder to install a new pool.

“I also offer free water testing,” he said. “Just put the pool water in a clean container and bring it in.”

He is offering free delivery after store hours. “if someone purchases either a quantity of something or maybe just doesn’t want to carry acid in their car, I’ll deliver it,” he said.

Beauparlante said he is open to adding new clients to his pool service, “but only a few. I have a helper, but I don’t want to be overloaded and have the service suffer.”

Beauparlant said right now he has time for private pools or spas, and a couple of commercial contracts.

The grand opening starts at 9 a.m. on March 5, at the store, 1210 E. Basin Ave., Suite 5. Beauparlant will offer free hot dogs, sodas, water and candy for the kids to kick off his new venture.

Normal hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays and Mondays, and from 9 to 5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays. The store will be closed Tuesdays.

          Call 253-4040 for more information.

1298008841 42 36 weeks pregnant would it be ok to go swiming at a public pool?

the public pool will open soon and i always go every year with my husband but can i go swiming at 36 weeks or will the chlorine be bad for me or the baby?

It won't be bad at all. Swimming, or just standing in deep water will help take some of the pressure off your pelvis.

It's actually very recommended… just make sure you don't drink the whole pool of water :) .

swimming is very good for pregnant women. it helps with pack pain, pelvic pain and it also relaxes your muscles. have fun.

No you can swim as long as it is comfortable for you, and most women find it extremely comfortable! The chemicals won't hurt the baby at all because your baby is protected by the mucous plug.

                Clear hot tub water?

1294898519 12 Clear hot tub water?

I changed the water in my hot tub @ 3 weeks ago. I have used the right chemicals and have had my water tested but it is still very cloudy. I do not know why it is cloudy and the people at the pool and spa place don't know either. The only thing that I can say is different than normal is we have put my baby in and she was wearing one of those little swimmer diapers. would that cause it? I am willing to change the water again but not if it will not work.

The swimmer diaper may have an agent in it to collect / absorb water / urine? Or, the chemical content is too high.

Make shure your ph and alkalinity is perfect.make shure your filters are clean,if they are a year old get new ones. did you use a spa cleaner when you drained? use spa perfect to break up all the really fine particals that the filters cant get. Add tons of chlorine granuals to see if that might help. I tried to follow the pool and spa place manuals, but you really need to go by YOUR sight and smell. If you think it needs more chlorine then put it in. I tried to follow their guidlines and ended up with green swampwater.

no.it will not work keep others out of your hot tub ok.every one except your baby and you.

1291312934 94 Has anyone ever used Baking Soda to raise the pH in a pool?

Does it work as well as the chemicals you buy at the pool store? Do you put it right into the skimmer basket to go through the filter, or do you disperse it throughout the pool water? How long do you wait until you test the pH again?

It would take a couple of 5 gallon buckets full of baking soda to raise the PH even a little…….

Baking Soda is used to raise Alkalinity. It's the same Sodium BiCarbonate you'll buy at the pool store for much more money and under various names… "Alkalinity Up", etc. Buy it at the Supermarket. 22-1/2 oz. will raise a 10,000 gal. pool by 10ppm

Bring your Alkalinity in line (80-100ppm) first with baking soda, then raise pH with Soda Ash. Broadcast either all over the pool with pump running. Test next day.

How well do solar pool covers work?

MassivePool3R 468x307 How well do solar pool covers work?

I have a solar pool cover and was wondering if anyone knows how well they work?

I had one that looked like bubble wrap and it worked fine. The "bubbles" magnified the suns rays and help heat it faster.

They are good for keeping heat in but damn expensive to replace and dont have a long pool life if your chemicals are out of balance.

Basically they are meant to cut down on heating costs and evaporation but also have the added benefit of repelling some of the suns rays from burning out your chlorine levels. You usually wont get more then a few years out of them before they fall apart and if you have a large pool you can expect to pay around 300 or more for a new one.

But all in all id recommend having them as ive seen the difference in uncovered vs covered and the savings would be substantial over time to your water bill and your heating bill. If you really want to save money buy a new HE furnace for the pool heating they are a lil expensive but in the long run they can do a lot more these days then the gas suckers of old.
